an unbelievably fast and safe track car.
It started as a 2013 ZL1 Camaro
with a built LSA engine and huge
Magnuson supercharger - an 800+
HP sub-10 second quarter mile
straight-line street car. We converted
it to a track-day car with a full racelegal cage. It has custom-built
extra-large Kirkey racing seats with
custom-stitched covers, a custom
fuel system to prevent starvation
running an E85 fuel blend, KW V3
dampers on custom spring rates, an
upgraded cooling for the engine, a
supercharger heat exchanger, an
upgraded
transmission
and
differential, Pratt and Miller carbon
fiber hood, fenders, and doors, an
Aeromotions active wing, a Racelogic
Vbox video and data acquisition
system, and huge 315-705-19 Pirelli
racing slicks. This car last ran 1:15s
on the Summit Point Main circuit with
a 175 MPH top speed on the front
straight. Even with reduced boost it is
still estimated at 700+ RWHP.
dB: What NCC programs and
activities do you support?
Matt: We sponsor the NCC Autocross
program and we have hosted NCC
DIY events at our shop.
dB: Given your involvement with
NCC, what is your favorite NCC
event?

Matt: Our favorite NCC event would
have to be Chapterfest. Being able to
see the broad range of use from our
customer base, from trailered trackcars to back-road touring vehicles, all
in one venue, is a lot of fun for us.

that Nico was OK and on his way back
to our pit box was the worst I've ever
felt, and watching the end of Ford v
Ferrari made me feel that sense of
dread all over again.

dB: What is your favorite movie in
the car, car-chase, heist, or racingrelated genre?

dB: Is there anything else that RRT
would like to communicate to dB's
readership?

James: Watching Ford v Ferrari made
me sad and uncomfortable. Knowing
that your friend perished in your car is
something that I hope I never have
to experience. I watched as Nico
Rondet, an international professional
racing driver, crashed into the barriers
at Road America at 90MPH head-on
in a car I built. It was a heartstopping, gut-wrenching feeling
seeing that happen. This was the
2012 Grand Am Continental
Challenge race at Road America. We
were third in the ST class behind the
APR and Compass 360 teams,
waiting for them to run out of brakes
on a power track. With 24 minutes
left to go, the left rear toe link bolt
snapped and turned Nico straight into
the Jersey walls at the exit of Turn
One. The car slammed into the
concrete and spilled the front-end
across the track, which we saw on the
TV coverage live feed to our pit cart.
The impact destroyed the wall and the
remaining 24 minutes of the race was

James: We work on non-M BMWs -
a lot! We often get calls from people
who don't think we would work on
their non-M BMWs, or that we only
work on race cars. Even though we
started as a small race-oriented shop,

the racing aspect gives us the
knowledge and experience to solve all
sorts of problems that have nothing to
do with racing. We also have several
factory-trained technicians who never
want to even touch modified cars, let
alone racecars. So the worn thrust
arm bushings, brakes, electrical
gremlins, and tires that you need for
your X5 xDrive 35i or 535i are all in a
day's work for us.
