magazines were a significant part of
the Petersen Publishing empire, it
turns out that most of the revenue
came from three magazines - Teen,
Tiger Beat, and Sassy!
If you're delayed in the Los
Angeles area over a weekend, there
is a silver lining. Since 1985, every
Saturday at 0600, the Donut
Derelicts² have met in the parking
lot of Adams Avenue Donuts.
The participants and their vehicles
represent the soul of the Southern
California car culture. Hot rods,
muscle cars, classic cars, customer
cars, exotic cars, and unique
vehicles are all represented. The
participants in this weekly event are
so unique that often OEM designers
are walking the lot, inspecting the
vehicles and talking to the owners.
In fact, when Freeman Thomas was
head of the Chrysler Pacifica
studios, he would often bring running
prototypes of design exercises
to this event.

rather than taking the next available
flight, you may find yourself asking
for an additional day's delay!

For this article, our friends at
GM provided us a 2021 Chevrolet
Blazer RS. With Camaro-inspired
exterior styling, Corvette inspired tail
lights, a six-cylinder engine, 20-inch
Michelin Super Sport tires, and candy
red paint, we knew the Blazer RS was
NOT going to be just another uninspired,
generic crossover sport utility
vehicle. Instead, its driving characteristics
reminded us of a " family " car
from Chevrolet's glory days - the
fifth-generation Chevrolet Nova.
