DIY at Bimmer Werks By Chris Wootten O n November 6th the DIY program was hosted by Bimmer Werks in Beltsville, MD. During the event, I sat down with Jan Habaqe to get a better understanding of this well-regarded independent shop. The history of Bimmer Werks is a story of passion and family with a strong dose of entrepreneurial spirit. Amr Alkhateeb (in his land of origin his last name means " public speaker " ) had a successful career as a senior BMW certified technician spanning several decades working at dealerships and independent shops. One cold winter evening in 2013, Amr was having dinner with his wife, Jan, and she asked him " With all your skills, motivation and dedication to customer satisfaction why don't we start our own business? " Over the next few evenings Amr and Jan took the first step in starting their business by writing their mission statement: Here at Bimmer Werks Auto we strive to continuously provide our clients with family, friendly and quality services, without the dealership prices. Our knowledgeable and 26 ■ (Top) Bimmer Werks is an immaculate shop. Note the custom paint work on the lifts Amr had commissioned by an artist. That commitment to clients extends to the BMW enthusiast community as Bimmer Werks has been a long-term supporter of the National Capital Chapter and its DIY program. Many do-it-yourself tasks were successfully completed at our DIY event. Brian LaVecchio did a stem-to-stern fluids refresh of his E46 330ci track car. Over the years Brian has used DIYs to maintain his track car as he is a passionate HPDE participant and has become a prime customer for brake pad manufacturers. Brian was proudly showing off his custom paint work skillfully applied in a parking lot with a rattle can. Chris Parente attended to a timing chain issue on his drop-dead gorgeous E39 M5. Alex Pearre made quick work of changing the transmission fluid and pan on his trusty X3. Dennis Last changed his oil and did a full undercarriage inspection of his 335is. derBayerischehttps://www.nccbmwcca.org/diy/ https://www.bimmerwerks.shop/
