Oktoberfest at Passport BMW

ife is returning to normal, and with it, National Capital Chapter's
annual Oktoberfest at Passport BMW in Suitland, MD, resumed.
That Saturday, 10/23, was a pleasant autumn day: rather cloudy,
producing weather that was not too hot, not too cool, with temperatures in
the mid-60s. Just right.
A good-sized crowd (not
too few, but not too many -
about 200 or so) turned out to
enjoy the festivities: beer, a
band, and a buffet, not to
mention Cars 'n Coffee, a car
show/contest, and camaraderie.
Dressed in lederhosen and
wearing the traditional trachten
hats, the band entertained the
crowd with polka-style and
Bavarian country music. The
buffet consisted of hearty
German fare: various types of
sausage and bratwurst, sauerkraut,
German-style potatoes,
various cheeses, mustards,
butter, and sauces, and countyfair-style
pretzels (the big, soft,
chewy kind).

without a car show, judged by the crowd of attendees. The cars were
divided into two groups: Vintage (about a dozen cars) and Modern
(several dozen cars). The winner in the Vintage category was Andy
Perahia with his red BMW
2002, while Paul Gentile and
his blue BMW 135is took home
the honors in the Modern
category.
