Ten-hour races are never easy, but there was some optimism heading
to Road Atlanta. Road Atlanta is one of the most renowned racetracks in the
US with its blind corners and high-speed sections. Petit LeMans also
finishes in the dark which adds to the excitement. As usual, the IMSA
schedule includes the Michelin Pilot Challenge (MPC) for GT4 and TCR
cars. And again, the Indianapolis MPC race had resulted in a special win
for the BMWs. At Indianapolis, Steve Dinan's CarBahn Motorsports Team
got their first win of the season for their M4 GT4. Along with the CarBahn
success, Turner Motorsports finished in third to give us some added
anticipation for the MPC at Petit LeMans.
In the weeks approaching the October 12 Petit LeMans, the

Southeastern US experienced the impact of hurricane Helene that
devastated areas across the Carolinas. We want to send our best thoughts
to those who have lost so much to the flooding in the region and hope they
can recover quickly. Areas around Road Atlanta were fortunate to have
escaped similar flooding and damage. In contrast to the earlier severe
weather, we had beautiful weather for the race weekend.
CarBahn Motorsports is effectively new to BMW and the M4 GT4 in
the MPC. As you may know, Steve Dinan, founder of CarBahn, has a long
history with BMW and it's good to have him back with the brand. In 2024
CarBahn showed excellent performance with Jeff Westphal & Sean
McAlister but had various problems take them out of contention for race
wins. However, we have seen them begin to find success as the 2024
season comes to a close.
Turner continues to have two cars in the MPC for Robby Foley &
Francis Selldorff, Robert Megennis & Dillon Machavern and has been
competitive as usual. The MPC takes place earlier in the weekend as a
support race to the WeatherTech series. The M4 GT4 seems to lack some
pace in the MPC and doesn't qualify well, but then shows better race pace.
I have heard that the teams felt the cars were down on power due to an
unfavorable BoP. During qualifying for the Fox 120 MPC at Road Atlanta
Robby Foley put the Turner M4 GT4 in fourth place with the CarBahn car
