Cup. The Endurance Cup is based on performance in the Daytona, Sebring,
Watkins Glen, Indianapolis, and Road Atlanta races. It was the team's first
season in GTD Pro after moving from GTD.
While the Miller team didn't win any of the endurance races, they
maximized the collection of in-race points at assigned times during each race.
These long-distance races require unwavering commitment from all team personnel,
drivers, crew, and strategists. It's a " never say die " event. As the race
approached the 10th hour, with the help of a full course yellow, Philip Eng finally
got the #24 M Hybrid V8 into 4th place and then 3rd with the #01 Cadillac
of Rainer van der Zander in 2nd and the #06 Porsche of Nick Tandy in 1st
directly in front of him. It was amazing because the #24 BMW had been a lap
down, but they fought to get back on the lead lap and the yellow period put them
in perfect position. All of this under darkening conditions. Then Rainer van der

Zander got past Tandy into 1st and Eng also tried to pass the Porsche in the
esses with a GT car in the mix. There was contact between the BMW and the
Porsche with the Porsche going off course. The Porsche continued, but the
contact had damaged a tire on the M Hybrid V8, and Eng had to pit, sending
him to 4th. He was penalized for contact with the Porsche leaving him too far
back to compete for the podium. It was a very intense final 30 minutes of the
race with van der Zander in the Cadillac positioned for the win. From the outside,
it is hard to appreciate how much work and effort goes into all this intense
racing. It surely was an exciting end to a hard-fought race.
Petit LeMans is an incredible classic, international event. It's a bucket
list race. Having not attended the race for about ten years, it was great to be
there again. I want to again thank Doug Verner for being the golf cart driver.
The elevation changes around Road Atlanta are extreme, even for spectators.
