It's safe to say that if BMW had not developed and perfected the CLAR UKL chassis architecture, making a positive business case to continue the MINI brand would have been extremely challenging. BMWs UKL modular chassis have been quite successful, with fifteen BMW and MINI products developed using this chassis. And while each vehicle is distinct, there are some surprising common features (we'll get to that later). To say that the MINI launch was initially successful would be an understatement. It was WAY successful. The well planned and executed launch campaign, along with coordinated outstanding advertising, car show (remember them?) exhibits and stand-alone dealership " MINI land " showrooms, captured the hearts and minds of the youth market. During the same time, to capture that same market Toyota launched their " Scion " brand, Nissan launched the " Cube " , and Honda launched their " Element " . Now ask yourself - when was the last time you heard those three names? ■ (Below Clockwise) Comfortable driver's area. No complaints from the rear passengers. Vents for the rear passengers.
