out his top three is the Capital Auto Club. " It is one of the first events I attended
and it always delivers. " Abisai pointed out that these events are somewhat
similar because of " the friendly people and amazing cars. There's nothing more
special than that. "
Abisai says that daily practice has allowed him to improve his skills.
His favorite kinds of photos to take are panning, light painting, and detail shots,
but his absolute favorites are long exposures. His tools of choice are a Sony
a6400 body and a Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens. Check out Abiai's work on Instagram

Josue Angulo
Josue Angulo is a photographer
posting great photos on a daily
basis. We met at Beltway Brewing to
chat about photography and his
favorite local events. Josue reflected,
" photography has always been
a thing that I've admired, not
necessarily for cars, but just in
general. I didn't start focusing on
photography until I got my first
camera in 2016. In 2019 it got more
serious for me. One of my friends
told me about Katie's C&C, and I like
cars, so I thought what better way
to practice photography. "
Josue enjoys automotive photography specifically because he's " able to
Being able to walk around, talk to people, or have people approach you and say,
'hey, you're that guy who takes those pictures.' For me, it's definitely the people
and the environment. "
Those thoughts dovetail nicely into Josue's sentiments about how he has
developed his photography skills: " By being a photographer at these events, you
develop friendships and relationships with people who also do photography.
You find that circle and grow with it. Yes, I want to develop my own way, but
what can I learn from different people? " He added, " constructive criticism is
something good to learn and grow
from because it will get you out of
your comfort zone, and that to me is
priceless. You're not going to be
them, but you're going to develop the
baseline of techniques that you'll use
for you to develop your own art. "
Josue now shoots with a Sony
a7R IV body and has a variety of
lenses, but his 70-200mm f/2.8 lens
is one of his favorites. Be sure to

see the finalized products of different automakers; the different body designs,
colors, and materials. " He noted that " seeing these things through the lens is a
little bit different and you appreciate them a little bit more. " Josue's favorite
events to capture automotive subjects are Katie's C&C and Dulles Landing C&C.
He added, " If a car dealership has an event or Capital Auto Club has an event,
I will usually attend those as well. "
When I asked Josue if there was something that made these particular
events special, he said, " I think more than anything, it's the people.

Joshua Patsos
The last photographer I spoke with,
Joshua Patsos, has inadvertently appeared in the background of a number of my
own photos over the years. Apparently we attend many of the same events.
I've followed Joshua's work for some time, but we were only recently introduced.
In addition to frequenting the local C&C events in our area, Joshua also photographs
rallies (think NCC Tours) for Sunset Auto Club. Joshua says he prefers
automotive photography at events like C&C because he likes " capturing life as
it's happening. Even when I'm photographing rallies, I don't like taking posed
pictures because it looks too fake. I really like getting people driving in, people
standing around talking, and catching them without them even seeing me.
