More than halfway through the year and NCC is ripping through another
successful car season. Well on our way to surpass 100+ event days for 2024
again, it's not too late to come out to your first autocross, DIY, or track event.
In fact, we highly encourage it! In an area with a lot of professionals, we
understand that there are plenty of other ways you can spend your time:
family, household chores, travel. But, I would assume almost everyone who
signs up for CCA membership has a love for cars, and maybe a BMW or two.
While reading der Bayerische is a great way to stay in touch with NCC, one
of the easiest ways to get more out of your membership is to come out to an
event, more specifically to one of our monthly socials. Seriously, there's very
little involved other than showing up, and for most, I'm sure that's more than
half the battle. The schedule is pretty easy to follow, each week, every
month we meet up somewhere in our chapter's footprint. While it may not
specifically be in your backyard, we are a car club, so it may require driving.
In fact, we have quite a few attendees that make sure that their toys are shiny
every time they show up, but it's not a requirement (I've shown up to many
car events with a dirty car).
All of our meet up locations have good parking (one of our location
requirements), so we'll spend the first part of the social hanging out with the
toys. Whether you daily-drive your 3 Series or have a garage queen classic
M5, a wide variety of interesting, drool-worthy cars tend to show up. We get
plenty of newbies that show up (actually, you're pretty easy to spot), and we
welcome everyone to the party! After spending some time gawking over
BMWs, we head inside for food and drink; this part is optional, but since
you've already made the trek, why not stick around? Actually, this is the
easiest part because who doesn't like to eat and drink! At each social, there's
usually a club host that will welcome you and make NCC announcements,
if needed. Even introverted people like me enjoy meeting other club
members and sharing our experiences with others. Be sure to check our
biweekly emails and/or our club calendar to find out when the next social
is....we hope you can make it out.
While NCC may be the biggest and best chapter in the US, we have
some incredible regional CCA events coming up. Only a few hours away
northwest, our annual trek to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix kicks off in
early August. This is an awesome, extended weekend celebrating cars
of all types in downtown Pittsburgh at historic Schenley Park.
Club members from all over the country make their way to see the latest and
greatest from the early 1900s to the present. As part of German Hill,
BMW CCA has a parking area and hospitality for the show and a great
vantage point to watch the vintage races. The BMW Performance Center will
also be there to give hot laps around the track which is a highlight during
a break in the action.
If professional racing is more your thing, then don't miss our BMW
CCA Car Corral and Hospitality Tent for IMSA weekend at VIR! It is one of
my favorite events of the year so come join us to cheer on our favorite BMW
race teams. Why pay thousands of dollars to see an F1 race, when you can
get up close and personal at VIR. The level of access to the race teams and
paddock is unmatched for IMSA. We'll have Q&A sessions and garage tours
with the BMW drivers and team principals. One year, we 'got stuck' inside
the RLL garage and had to listen to Bill Auberlen stories until the rain let up.
Luckily, we survived with very little embellishing going on. It's truly an
incredible weekend which also includes parade laps where we drive our own
cars on the track, BMW Performance Center hot laps, and lots of giveaways.
Hopefully you make the most of your membership and we try to make
it easy for you. Our volunteer staff does a tremendous job of running events
and we love it when new folks show up. Our dedication to this club is
unwavering and we look forward to seeing you at an event soon.
