Once again, it's that time of year again. Who's going to
Daytona.... this guy! As I'm ready to walk out the door for my
trip to the world-famous 24-hour race, I can't wait to see the
introduction of the new BMW M Hybrid V8 in person. One day,
this car will win plenty of races and I can say that I saw its initial
voyage at Daytona with a few hundred of my closest CCA
friends. I've watched and read all about the development of this
incredible machine and the frustrating short time frame to get
everything to work properly on this prototype Bavarian rocket
ship. One of my bucket list items is the 24 Hours of Le Mans
and hopefully, if the car can successfully get through this year's
tough IMSA schedule, then maybe Bobby Rahal can convince
BMW to compete at the Circuit de la Sarthe in 2024. I may be
getting ahead of myself, but I can always dream and fantasize
with the best of them!
What is reality, however, is that car season is finally here.
Have you checked our calendar lately? It's full of fun things to
do as we begin another year of incredible events. Want to take
your car to the track? Need to do an oil change or replace those
rotors? Wanna just come hang out with other BMW CCA
members? We do it all! For those new to the club or if you've
never attended any events, we'll have our first Open House of the
year at BMW of Sterling. You can see exactly what we do all year
long and meet other like-minded people who share the love for
BMWs. I'd encourage you to sign up ASAP for this free event
because we do have space limitations, and you may even be
lucky enough to win a prize!
For those who don't know, National Capital is the largest
and most active chapter in the US with more than 4,000+
members and 100+ event days. Unless you've been to other
chapter events across the country, we definitely spoil our
members by giving them something to do all the time. You may
have a tough decision to choose between autocross or a tour on
any given weekend, but that's the beauty of what we do... there's
always something going on! And there are some big events
planned this year too, like our Annual Membership meeting
(date/location TBD), our August BMW car corral at VIR, and our
annual national get-together, O'Fest Forever in Warwick, RI in
September. If you need more information on these events or
want to sign up, check out our website or the biweekly email
blasts. Need help figuring out what to do, how to get involved,
or have suggestions to improve, then shoot me an email,
paul.seto@nccbmwcca.org, and I can help out. I look forward to
another great year and I hope to meet a lot of you in person
at an event.
