It's hard to believe we're already into the last few months of the car season-
it never ever lasts long enough. But, autumn is great in the DMV for car
people! No pollen, cooler temps, and less humidity; no wonder our calendar
is full of big events coming up. Our annual trek down to southern Maryland
always draws a huge crowd, so don't miss our Solomons Social Saturday!
Imagine a ton of BMWs cruising south, parking along the Solomons boardwalk
which overlooks the beautiful Patuxent River. It's an awesome photo
opportunity for sure, so bring your family and friends along! We have private
reservations for lunch at The Pier Restaurant, there are a bunch of shops to
explore, and there's a great ice cream stand along the boardwalk. It's great
fun to spend a beautiful autumn day with your fellow club members, so mark
your calendar now.
As we wind down the year, we have one more HUGE event to specifically
celebrate the 50th anniversary of BMW ///M. At this year's Rockville
Antique & Classic Car Show, BMW CCA will have a Special Display Group
to showcase our members' M cars! Come out and enjoy one of the longest
running car shows in the area, with over 30 car clubs ranging from Packards
to Ferraris. This free event historically serves to bring together auto
collectors and enthusiasts to celebrate the classic cars of yesteryear.
Get there early, because we will flood the show with M cars galore!
And for our ultimate, EPIC event of the year, Passport BMW will be
throwing another Oktoberfest in our honor! This annual ritual has gotten
bigger and better every year, a testament to the dealer's enthusiast appreciation.
Passport goes all-out for this one: a live German band, catered German
food, and best of all, the ultimate German car show! Make sure to sign up for
this event early, you don't want to miss it!
Finally, it probably goes often unsaid, but this is the best local club.
We offer a tremendous value for our members who want the ultimate CCA
experience; a lot of us have lived it for many years while some are just
starting. For us veteran members, we love to share our passion for BMWs
and there's no better place to do that than our monthly meetups and
Do-It-Yourself (DIY) events. New to NCC and want to connect with other club
gearheads? Then head to one of our monthly meetups! All we do is show
up with our cars, eat, and drink; pretty low key stuff but you'll get all your
answers to those questions burning in your head (where's the best place for
repairs, what dealers offer discounted parts, how can you save even more
money, etc.).
The ultimate way to really take advantage of what this club can offer is
our DIY program; no other CCA chapter offers anything close! While many
may say that German cars are expensive to purchase and even more so to
maintain, I'd beg to differ. Even if you have no experience working on your
car, we're there to assist, so you can learn from those with years of
experience. This is a very competitive area for BMW dealerships and
independent shops, and one way they can stand out from the crowd is by
hosting a DIY event. With their support, we'll get your car onto a lift to
perform your own maintenance; all we ask is that you purchase your materials
from the shop (almost always at a discount!). Basic jobs such as oil &
fluid changes, brake pad & rotor replacement, or radiator & hose swaps can
easily save hundreds of dollars, and provide the peace of mind that the job
was done correctly. Ladies, this applies to you too! Our Ladies DIY staff (yes,
it's a thing!) can empower you to take the mystery out of these easy tasks
while we show you the whys and hows; it really isn't that hard. There's no
better way to understand your BMW than by working on it, and saving those
big bucks makes the value of your membership forever priceless.
