Research on Hospice Care in
Rural Areas
Helping Us Move Further Down the Road
While the number of hospice providers and hospice utilization in the U.S.
has grown rapidly over the past two decades, rural Medicare beneficiaries

residents are disproportionately older, sicker, and lower income, it is
particularly important that hospice and palliative care are universally
available and accessible to beneficiaries at the end of life.
