Reducing Antibiotic Overuse:
A New Resource Hub to Use and Share
Antibiotics have saved millions of lives, but in the
future they might not work because all of us are
using too many," says John Santa, MD, MPH, the
medical director for Consumer Reports Health.
To help raise awareness - and reduce inappropriate
use of antibiotics - Consumer Reports has launched
an online hub with a range of information to help
inform consumers and healthcare professionals alike.
You'll find:
* Educational resources to help patients and
doctors discuss appropriate antibiotic use, along
with specific guidance for common illnesses like
sinusitis and skin infections.
* Articles from Consumer Reports and Wikipedia
on antibiotic use and misuse.
* A new Choosing Wisely antibiotics poster called
"5 Questions to Ask Your Doctor Before You
Take Antibiotics" and a Best Buy Drugs poster
called "5 Questions to Ask Your Doctor Before
Starting a New Drug."
* Links to relevant CDC information.
* A new animated PSA about antibiotic overuse,
and two additional videos.
Visit the hub to learn more - and share this
important information with members of your
community: www.ConsumerHealthChoices.org/
