Know Your Safety Vests WEARING YOUR UNIFORM ANSI SAFETY VEST WHILE IN THE REQUIRED WORK AREAS IS A MUST. HERE IS A BREAKDOWN OF WHICH GROUPS SHOULD WEAR EACH VEST DESIGN. THE VEST IS CONSIDERED PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE) ALONG WITH THE BUMP CAP, HEARING PROTECTION AND STEEL-TOED SHOES OR BOOTS. THE VEST MUST ALWAYS BE WORN ON THE RAMP OR IN THE WAREHOUSE, UNLESS THE ANSI POLO OR RAIN JACKET IS BEING WORN. Ramp/Cargo Must be worn while on the ramp when doing tasks such as checking the aircraft or loading bags. TechOps/GSE To be worn by employees handling equipment while on the Jetway or performing maintenance on and off the aircraft. Line Maintenance, Cabin Maintenance, Aircraft Maintenance, and Logistics Cargo Lead The cargo lead must wear this vest during his or her shift while on the ramp, in the warehouse, or when doing tasks like checking the aircraft or loading bags. ALA The leader of the ramp crew must wear this vest during his or her shift while on the ramp. Manager Worn by OSMs during his or her shift when on the ramp. ACS New Hire/Visitor Worn by any ACS new hire or visitor on the ramp. WORK GROUPS AND LEADS ARE DESIGNATED BY THE DIFFERENT VEST COLORS AND REFLECTIVE TAPE.
