gift keeps on giving
Back in 2004, Chelsea Groton Bank in
Groton, Conn., hit a milestone, reaching
150 years in business. But instead of simply
celebrating the achievement, the community bank
decided to give a gift to its community.
Nearly 15 years later, that gift-a free community
education program with a full-time education officer-
has become Chelsea University. The $1.1 billion-asset
bank, now celebrating 165 years in business, launched
the e-learning platform component of its program
in the fall of 2018 for its customers and community
members, who can register, build a profile and receive
customized financial courses at their convenience.
They may also schedule in-person classes.
" Chelsea Groton Bank has always had a focus
on education, for customers, employees and the
community, " says Lori Dufficy, executive vice
president and director of sales and service. " As we
continued to develop our community education
offering, including everything from FDIC Money
Smart classes to lifestyle programs to internal training
programs for our team, we felt it was the right time
to take all of the individual programming under one
strong umbrella. We are thrilled to continue to grow
this program. "
