A recap of the 2022
MGA Senior Tour.
T
he 27th season of the MGA Senior
Tour concluded with nearly 4,500
rounds played by our 638 members. Many
positives came out of the 2022 season,
which featured friendly competition and
abundant opportunities for camaraderie
amongst the over-55 crowd. Additional
18-hole and 36-hole events for individuals
were added to the schedule, plus we
saw women's membership and participation
reach an all-time high for 2022.
It's no secret that the Senior Tour continues
to succeed by creating numerous
opportunities for golfers to explore new
courses and participate in fun competitions.
These successes add to the Senior
Tour legacy and fulfill its mission to create
lasting memories and form new friendships.
Most importantly, it was great to
see some familiar faces as well as meeting
all the new members that joined us for the
first time this season.
At the conclusion
of the regular
competitive
season,
Rush Creek
Golf Club played
host
site to this
year's Senior Tour
Finals. The 84
golfers who qualified
for the event
were greeted with
a challenging golf
course in its brilliant fall colors. The winners
of this year's finals are:
Colleen Boerboom: Women's Gross
Champion
David Wilson: Senior Net Champion
Ken McIntosh: Master Net Champion
Jim Price: Senior Gross Champion
John Mozina: Master Gross Champion
Joan Frie: Women's Net Champion
Looking ahead, the 2023 schedule is
a stimulating one with five All-Section
events of featuring both individual and
team formats. These events are open to
all members of the Senior Tour, in addition
to the events of each section, offering
eight individual events on both familiar
and new courses for our members.
The MGA Senior Tour will also be
participating in the sixth annual MGA/
WSGA Senior Tour Cup Matches, to be
held October of 2023 (Wisconsin to host).
Finally, we are pleased to announce that
the 2023 MGA Senior Tour Finals will be
held September 18 at The Wilds Golf Club.

Nora McGuire Receives NGWSD Award
N
ora McGuire, of St. Paul, Minn., was
selected as
and Women
in
the 2023 National Girls
Sports Day-Minnesota
Special Merit Award honoree Feb. 1 by the
Minnesota Coalition of Women in Athletic
Leadership Communications Committee.
The celebration, which was conducted in
conjunction with the 37th annual National
Girls and Women in Sports Day, honored
some of Minnesota's most inspiring and
influential individuals, groups, and organizations
in girls' and women's sports.
" It's exciting to be recognized by an organization
that celebrates girls and women
in sports!
It's wonderful to see the growth and enthusiasm each season
brings! " McGuire said.
McGuire (pictured above right) impacted women's and public
golf in Minnesota immensely throughout her career. In 1982,
she was hired as the head golf professional at Phalen Park Golf
mngolf.org
Course and was credited with becoming
the first female head golf professional in
the state. During her 28 years as the head
pro at Phalen Park, she received numerous
honors nationally and from her peers
including: the Minnesota PGA's Bill
Strausbaugh Award-twice, in 2002 and
2009; the Minn. PGA Facility Promoter
of the Year (2001); the LPGA Midwest
Section Professional of the Year (1994);
and the LPGA's National President's
Award-also twice, 1995 and 1999. She is
also a life member of both the LPGA and
the PGA of America and holds the distinction
of having served as the LPGA's
National President in 2000-2001.
To honor the accomplishments over her career, she was
inducted into the MGA-PGA Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame
in 2011 and received the MGA's most prestigious honor, the
Warren J. Rebholz Distinguished Service Award in 2017.
