Hitchner Advances to the U.S. Am Semi-finals,
Before Losing 3 and 2 to Carr
After a quick start going 1-up through
six holes during his semi-final match at
the U.S. Amateur Championship Aug. 20,
Derek Hitchner, of Minneapolis, Minn.,
would lose four of the next eight holes
against Ben Carr, of Columbus, Ga., ending
Hitchner's bid to win the Havemeyer
trophy at the Ridgewood Country Club in
Paramus, N.J., (Carr would lose the final
match on the 36th hole, 1 down, to Sam
Bennett, of Madisonville, Texas).
" It was an unbelievable week, Hitchner
said afterward. " Obviously, it stings quite
a bit, and it's hard not to let that kind of
dominate the other, I guess, five or six days
I've been here. But still, it was all just a fantastic
experience. I'm so grateful to have
gone through all this. "
Pacy Erck Awarded for Service
One of the City of Edina's most prestigious
awards for volunteerism, the 2022 Mayor's
Individual Service Commendation, was recently
awarded to Pacy Erck. Erck has been a part of
Braemar Golf Course since its opening in 1964,
where she's held various leadership positions until
rotating off of the board in 2021. Once retired,
she fulfilled the longtime vision of Joe Abood,
Braemar's general manager, displaying
a heirloom clock for the clubhouse.
" I want to give back to my community and
the Braemar Golf Course which has given me
so much throughout the years, " Erck said.
The clock will be installed in April of 2023
for the patrons of Braemar to enjoy.
