There aren't many leagues for junior golfers that require
handicaps-some are still learning the game, playing in
gross events, playing socially, etc. Junior golfers in YOC
automatically get a GHIN record with their membership,
with the additional benefit of score posting technology
utilized by GHIN. In addition, the USGA GHIN
app allows users to track course stats from their round,
use GPS functions and set up different game formats
with others.

says Jacob Sazama, a 10.8 index and YOCMN member.
For Sazama, there is no greater reward than to see his
game progress, even if it's one step at a time.
It turns out that, at the end of the golf season, my friend
was invited to play in a team event through her local golf
association, which required a handicap for entry. While
the event conflicted with work, her excitement at being
asked to join a team in a competitive setting outside of
casual league play was evident. I have a hunch that a
Handicap Index will be on her radar for this season.
