the TaleofDavid Tallman J^[ b_\[ ijeho e\ ed[ e\ C_dd[iejWÊi ceij kdademd ]eb\ Y^Wcf_edi$ By Joe Bissen W hen it comes to stars of Minnesota golf, there's one man who stands with the all-time greats but who remains largely unknown to modern-day followers of the game: David Tallman. When it comes to star crossed, Tallman may be matchless. The phrase " stranger than fi ction " comes to mind, and even that might not do justice to the Tallman legacy. Tallman is arguably the most accomplished senior amateur golfer in state history. He won four Minnesota Golf Association Senior Amateur championships, a feat trumped only by Runcie Martin, who won fi ve. Add Tallman's success on the national stage, including a National Seniors Golf Championship, and you have a golden-years resumé that's unimpeachable. It's a resumé that earned Tallman posthumous induction into the MGA-PGA Hall of Fame last November. 16 MINNESOTAGOLFER Summer 2011 www.mngolf.org ALL PHOTOS COURTESY OF NANCY RAMEYhttp://www.mngolf.org
