Rask Wins Fourth MGC Title

fter round one of the 2013 Minnesota Golf Champions
Tournament, defending champion Clayton
Rask found himself seven shots from the leader.
In the fi nal two rounds, Rask shot a staggering 8-under par to
come from behind and win his fourth MGC title Sunday at the
Minneapolis Golf Club.
" This is his tournament, " says Sammy Schmitz, who shot a
3-under-par 69 (211) to fi nish a stroke shy of a playoff with
Rask.

With one hole left to play, Rask was uncertain how the players
ahead of him had fared. " Sammy told me he thought I was either
tied or up by one when we were on 17, so I knew I had to either make
par or birdie on the last hole, " Rask explained.
His tee shot on the 18th split the fairway and left him about
140 yards to the pin. Rask pulled his second shot into the second
cut to the left of the green and then got a bad bounce on his
third, which left him with a slippery four-foot downhill putt for
the victory. He buried his par putt to seal the championship at
6-under-par 210. He claimed his second straight MGC title and
fourth overall (2013, 2012, 2007, 2005).
" It feels awesome to win this tournament back-to-back, "
Rask says.

Pilot Claims Fourth MGA Mid-Am Title

f Claudia Pilot's favorite number wasn't four before, it certainly is now. On June 3, Pilot
rallied from four strokes behind leader Kendal Hake at the 2013 MGA's Women's MidAmateur
Championship at The Legacy Courses at Cragun's Resort to win her fourth
Mid-Am title-by four strokes.
" It's a wonderful feeling, " she says. " It's been 10 years since I last won this championship. My
husband and I just moved to the Brainerd area and this is my new home course, even though
I haven't played it that many times. "
Pilot posted the low round of the tournament
with an even par 72, carding three birdies and
three bogeys. " Everything seemed to be working, "
she says. " I drove the ball well, my irons
were a lot more crisp than they were yesterday,
and I putted well. "
Hake, the leader after Sunday's fi rst round,
fi nished the tournament with an 8-over-par 80
(155). Also fi nishing in a tie for second was Leigh
Klasse, who entered Monday's fi nal round two
strokes behind the leader.
