U.S. Open Local Qualifying #1
Andrew Israelson and Ross Miller carded 3-under-par rounds of 69, May
6 at StoneRidge Golf Club in Stillwater, Minn., sharing medalist honors at
the U.S. Open Local Qualifying and earning two of four available spots to
sectional qualifying prior to the 119th U.S. Open, June 13-16 at Pebble Beach
Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif. Israelson, a junior at North Dakota State
University, hopes to follow in his father's footsteps. Bill Israelson fi nished in
63rd place at Pebble Beach at the 1982 U.S. Open.
Miller, who won the 2018 Tapemark Charity Pro-Am and the Minnesota
Golf Champions, advances to sectional qualifying for the second time in
his career. Christopher Meyer and Jesse Polk, whose back-nine 32 equaled
Israelson, tied at 1-under 71 with Frankie Capan. Meyer and Polk earned the
two remaining qualifying spots with pars on the fi rst playoff hole.
KARINE ICHER
U.S. Women's Sectional Qualifying
Karine Icher, a 16-year LPGA Tour veteran from Chateauroux, France, returning
from a maternity absence qualifi ed for her 15th U.S. Women's Open with
back-to-back rounds of 70, May 7 at Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove,
Minn. Icher's 140 (4-under par) was fi ve shots better than Reagan Zibilski and
Luna Sobron Galmes, who tied at 145. Zibilski earned the fi rst alternate spot
after parring the fi rst playoff hole.
Icher, who turned pro in 2001, has appeared in four Solheim Cups and
amassed more than $5 million in career earnings, learned she would not
receive an exemption into the U.S. Open. Scrambling prior to the deadline,
Icher picked Rush Creek expecting favorable weather: " I knew Minnesota
would be cold and probably tougher, and I prefer the tough conditions, " she
said afterward.
MGA Women's Spring Scramble
Janelle Raaen and Kelly Johnson paired up perfectly for a bogey-free 66, May
11 at the second annual MGA Women's Spring Scramble. Raaen and Johnson,
of Edinburgh USA, combined for six birdies at holes 2, 3, 4, 7, 12 and 13 for
a 6-under par 66 at the Emerald Greens Golf Club in Hastings, Minn. It was
good for a three-stroke victory over Arica Sheff and Amanda Bromen.

U.S. Open Local Qualifying #2
Coming back from a break from competitive golf after knee surgery, Charles
Danielson managed his way well around Chaska Town Course's par-4 and par-5
holes, collecting six birdies and no bogies thanks to a hot putter for a 6-under par
66 and medalist honors, May 13 at the U.S. Open Local Qualifying. Danielson, a
former Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada) player from Osceola, Wis., claimed
the fi rst of four spots to advance to sectional qualifying; joining him is Robert
Bell (68), of Pierz; Henry May (69), of Edina; and Alex Kline (69), of Minnetonka.
