y second term as
International President has
come to an end. I'm a firm
believer in the saying " Time flies when
you are having fun! " The last four
years have flown by because my time
as the International President of such a
wonderful organization has been such a
pleasure. It has also been a privilege to
serve and represent you at a number of
functions throughout our order. During
the past biennium I was honored to be
part of the centennial celebrations for six
lodges and attend both Norsk Høstfest
in Minot, N.D., and a Scandinavian
Festival in Yuma, Ariz. In September
of 2011 Betty and I hosted the Sons of
6kh`_ZYhiVc`Zg
M
Norway Presidential Tour of Norway
where we, and a group of members,
visited 800 year-old stave churches,
UNESCO World Heritage sites and some
of the most scenic places in Norway.
Above all, though, the most memorable
event for me during this biennium
was the visit of their Majesties, King
Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway.
It was such an honor to meet and
interact with their Majesties, especially at
Norway Hall in Duluth, Minn.
During the past four years I have been
blessed with having two outstanding
International Boards to work with. They
are dedicated people who work tirelessly
for the betterment of Sons of Norway,
and there aren't words enough to express
my thanks for all they have done during
my tenure. I also want to thank my
Executive Committees for their hard
work, their advice and their willingness
to take on the tough issues. In addition,
I'd be remiss if I did not express my deep
appreciation for all the District Presidents
I've worked with. They have been
invaluable partners in working with the
Board on many issues.
Last of all, it has been a great privilege
for me to work closely with CEO Eivind
Heiberg and his team at the home office.
We are so fortunate to have such a
talented group of people working for us
in Minneapolis.
In closing I want to thank my wife,
Betty, for her support during these past
four years. I couldn't have done the job
without her encouragement and support.
