The Board reviewed Vice
President Ralph Peterson's camp
accreditation report. It was recommended
that all camps become
accredited and Sons of Norway
purchase a one-year affiliate
membership in the American
Camp Association to allow the
Districts to gain access to the
required publications in order to
gain accreditation.
MOTION was made and
seconded that Sons of Norway
to purchase a one-year affiliate
American Camp Association
membership to include Districts
2-6. Motion carried.
It will be determined if Canadian
camps are included and, if
possible, to purchase a similar
membership for those districts
who may not be covered by the
ACA membership.
The District President's Council,
meeting in Minneapolis at the
same time as the International
Board, was invited to join the
Board of Directors. The following
District Presidents were present:
Gloria Benazic, Chair, District 7;
Barbara Olson, District 1; Mark
Agerter, District 2; Mary Anderson,
Alternate for District 3; Martha
Elliott, District 4; Don Hermanson,
District 5; Lyle Berge, District 6;
Odd Harald Olsen, District 8.
President Kristiansen reviewed
business transacted by the
International Board. The District
Presidents then presented their
recommendations to the International
Board.
President Kristiansen reminded
the District Presidents that it is
the West Coast's turn to host the
2016 International Convention and
recommended that the District
Presidents in 2, 6 and 7 start
seeking Lodges to bid for the 2016
International Convention.
The following Board of Directors
Committees met: Corporate
Matters Committee: Chair Jon
Tehven, Ernst Granly, Janie Kelly
and Marci Larson; Benefits Committee:
Chair Erlene Stevenson,
Bob Hoover, Ralph Peterson and
Ron Stubbings; Finance/Investment
Committee: Chair Bill
Fosmoe, Elaine Nelson and Ray
Knutson.
MOTION was made by the
Corporate Matters Committee
to delete paragraph three of the
current Political Activity section in
the Sons of Norway Policy Book
and that the National Fraternal
Congress of America be changed
to American Fraternal Alliance.
Motion carried.
MOTION was made by the
Corporate Matters Committee to
establish a Local Lodge Oversight
Committee, composed of the
Sons of Norway International
Board of Directors Executive
Committee, with responsibilities
of ensuring lodges are in compliance
by filing legal documents
such as D17, Real Estate Ownership,
IRS 990, Lodge disputes,
Breach of conduct (if brought to
the International Board of Directors),
and other issues as may
arise. Motion carried.
MOTION was made by the
Corporate Matters Committee
to extend the recruitment lodge
status of Washington Lodge
#3-888 and Oslo Lodge #3-889 to
December 31, 2014, that they shall
provide written reinstatement
updates to the District 3 International
Director by April 1, 2014
and October 1, 2014, and that they

may not send delegates to District
or International Lodge Meetings
until their tax-exempt status is
reinstated with the IRS and their
suspension is lifted by Sons of
Norway. Motion carried.
MOTION was made by the
Corporate Matters Committee
to change " 6.22.3.1. Lodges shall
submit to the Sons of Norway
Headquarters for review, a plan of
distribution which shall set forth
the assets on hand for distribution
following payment of the
Lodge's debts and expenses.
(8/02) and 6.22.3.2. The Sons
of Norway Headquarters shall
not disapprove of any plan of
distribution that complies with
relevant state and federal laws
and regulations. (8/02) " to:
" When a Sons of Norway
Lodge disbands, 50% of the
assets shall go to Sons of Norway
Foundation (United States,
Canada or Norway) and 50% shall
be distributed within the District
in consultation with the appropriate
District Board. All assets shall
remain in Sons of Norway. (4/13). "

MOTION was made by the
Benefits Committee that Lodsen
Lodge #4-138 re-submit their
grant application when the
Acquisition of Real Estate requirements
have been fully met and
verification of compliance has
been received by Sons of Norway
Headquarters. Motion carried.
MOTION was made by the
Benefits Committee that Nordland
Lodge #5-554 re-submit their
grant application, including the
required copies of invoices, receipts
and/or other verification of
the cost of the projects and when
the Acquisition of Real Estate
requirements have been fully met
and verification of compliance has
been received by Sons of Norway
Headquarters. Motion carried.
MOTION was made by the
Benefits Committee that the
Honorary Membership policy
located in the Fraternal Section
of the Policy Book be changed
to: Sons of Norway International
Board of Directors awards Honorary
Membership to Ambassadors
from Norway to the United States
and Canada and from the United
States and Canada to Norway
and their spouses, with the
understanding that such honorary
memberships are being awarded
to the office and not to the individual.

MOTION was made by the
Benefits Committee to approve
the Sons of Norway Social Media
Policy, and recommended that
Section 1.8 Conduct and Appeal
Process of the Charter, Constitutions
and Procedures (2010-2012
edition), be amended to include a
breach of moral conduct as it relates
to Sons of Norway and Social
Media behavior. Motion carried.
MOTION was made by the
Benefits Committee to establish
a hosted email service for the
International Board of Directors.

Finance/Investment Committee to
approve the 2014 Total Operating
Forecast. Motion carried.
