NordicLife Culture + Taste + History + Events + Personalities Arve Henriksen Jazz Trumpeter At the age of 12, Arve Henriksen started his fi rst jazz group in his hometown of Stryn, Norway. Today, the 46-year-old is considered one of the country's most prolifi c jazz musicians. Henriksen has worked on more than 150 albums and received multiple awards, including the prestigious Kongsberg Jazz Award. His most recent albums are " The Nature of Connections " and " World of Glass, " a collaboration with Terje Isungset using instruments made entirely of glass. " The daily life is full of routine, so it is fantastic when artists can come up with extra energy, color and ideas about life. That is what art is all about and what has inspired me the most. " " The eagerness of Norwegian musicians is fantastic. We inspire each other and bring music up front instead of having competition between us. " " The best reward for me is when people get in contact with me after concerts and tell me that our songs and melodies have impacted their lives. " " I am experimenting with bringing in Norwegian folk music heritage, Norwegian singing, the hardanger fi ddle and the traditions of the Sámi into my music. It is important to be aware of your roots.
