The King and Queen were actively involved with the 1994 Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer. The King served as honorary chair of the Lillehammer Olympic Organizing Committee. 18 Crown Prince Haakon graduated from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy in Bergen in 1995. He studied at the University of California at Berkeley, and received his BA in political science in 1999. He completed his education in 2003 at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he was awarded an MA in development studies, specializing in international trade and Africa.
