he early American statesman Ben Franklin once said, " When you're fi nished changing,
you're fi nished. " At Sons of Norway, we are far from fi nished. In fact, we are charging
ahead with several positive changes.
You will see that this issue of Viking boasts an updated Sons of Norway logo, and you
may have noticed it on our website and in recent newsletters, including your September
issue of The Advisor. It will continue to be rolled out in various materials over the coming
months. The direction of 2017's updated brand evolved over many months of
research and planning, resulting in a refreshed brand identity that honors
our organization's past while embracing a bright future. The brand
embodies the concepts of community, warmth, space, nature and light
and incorporates principles of modern Scandinavian design. See our

We are pleased to present our refreshed brand, and hope you
will enjoy it, too.
Another exciting change will occur around the
fi rst of the year for Sons of Norway's International
Headquarters. We will move to temporary offi ces while
our new space is being developed on our current site. In
August, a purchase agreement was signed for our building
and surrounding property. The fi rms of Ryan Companies
and Weidner Apartment Homes purchased the site and will
redevelop it as a multi-use complex that will include offi ces,
retail space and apartments.
Sons of Norway will be an anchor tenant, maintaining our
long-time presence in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis.
Ryan and Weidner will partner with Sons of Norway to ensure
that Nordic elements are included in the building's design and
with respect to our history in the area. Rest assured - due to
the real estate boom in Uptown - the sale of our property will
continue to strengthen Sons of Norway's fi nancial security for
the foreseeable future. Read more about this transition in the
