NORDIC LIFE UP CLOSE All Aboard a Classic Ship In the summer of 2021, Hurtigruten Museum opened a new building to showcase a monumental ship in Norwegian coastal history. Weighing in at an impressive 15,000 tons and spanning a length greater than that of a football field, the 1956 ship MS Finnmarken sailed the North Sea for almost 37 years. For several years, it was considered the most modern ship in the world. The museum allows visitors to tour the entirety of the ship, from the music saloon to old passenger cabins. Learn about the history of the ship and its impact on the Norwegian coast through exhibitions and stories of the seamen told by the museum's hosts. Stop for a snack break in the ship's original dining room and let your kids experience history firsthand in the lounge next door, where they can play with toys from past decades. hurtigrutemuseet.no THE BIG NUMBER TOP 3 Hotels in Oslo The number of Norway's The Thief Hotel National Tourist Routes, which wind through the country's most beautiful landscapes. 8 July 2022 For the art lovers thethief.com The Grand Hotel For the history buffs grand.no Amerikalinjen For the modern explorers amerikalinjen.com sonsofnorway.com PHOTO (TOP) BY EIRIK LINDER ASPELUND; HOTEL PHOTOS BY MATTIAS HAMRÉN & JASON STRONG, DIDRICK STENERSEN, COURTESY OF THE AMERIKALINJENhttp://www.hurtigrutemuseet.no http://www.amerikalinjen.com http://www.thethief.com http://www.grand.no http://www.sonsofnorway.com
