AROUND THE ASSOCIATION
Executive Officer Changes
* Gina Samples has been named board
administrator of the Connecticut
Commission of Pharmacy, replacing
Heather Hoynes.
* Christopher P. Harlow, PharmD,
RPh, BCGP, has been named executive
director of the Kentucky Board of
Pharmacy, replacing Larry A. Hadley,
RPh. Harlow previously served as
vice president of pharmacy services
for Cordant Health Solutions and St
Matthews Community and Specialty
Pharmacies. In addition, he was cofounder
of St Matthews Community
Pharmacy and St Matthews Specialty
Pharmacy and served as a pharmacistin-charge
and a clinical pharmacist,
specializing in geriatrics and addiction
medicine. Harlow served on the Board of
Directors of the Kentucky Pharmacists
Association from 2014-2020, most
recently as past president. He is currently
a member of the American Pharmacists
Association (APhA) New Business
Review Committee for the APhA House
of Delegates. Additionally, Harlow serves
as adjunct faculty at the University
of Kentucky and Sullivan University
Colleges of Pharmacy. Harlow graduated
from the University of Kentucky
College of Pharmacy and completed a
community pharmacy practice residency
through the University of Kentucky
College of Pharmacy and American
Pharmacy Services Corporation.
* Suzanne Solven, RPh, has been named
registrar and chief executive officer for
the College of Pharmacists of British
Columbia, replacing Bob Nakagawa,
RPh. Prior to accepting this position,
Solven was associate vice president
of audit, investigations, and quality
assurance at Pacific Blue Cross, where
she led both the Fraud Investigation
Branch and Internal Audit Branch.
Previous positions include deputy
registrar of the College of Pharmacists
of British Columbia, and executive
director and senior pharmacist of
British Columbia's PharmaCare
program. Solven is a member of
several organizations, including
the University of British Columbia
Therapeutics Initiative Oversight
Committee, past co-chair of the
National Pharmaceuticals Strategy, and
past chair of the Advisory Committee
on Pharmaceuticals, Canadian Agency
for Drugs and Technologies in Health.
Solven received a bachelor of science
degree in pharmacy from the University
of British Columbia.
Board Member Appointments
* Thomas Cobb, PharmD, RPh, has
been appointed a member of the
Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
Cobb's appointment will expire
December 31, 2026.
* Gary Mount, PharmD, RPh, has been
appointed a member of the Alabama State
Board of Pharmacy. Mount's appointment
will expire December 31, 2024.
* Jasjit Gill, PharmD, RPh, has been
appointed a member of the Colorado
State Board of Pharmacy. Gill's
appointment will expire July 1, 2025.
* Avani Soni, PharmD, RPh, has been
appointed a member of the Colorado
State Board of Pharmacy. Soni's
appointment will expire July 1, 2025.
Board Member Reappointment
* James Hansen, MBA, RPh, has been
reappointed a member of the Colorado
State Board of Pharmacy. Hansen's
appointment will expire July 1, 2023.
