Louisiana Provides Regulatory and
Legislative Updates on Its Website
The progress of the Louisiana Board of
Pharmacy's regulatory and legislative
activity can be monitored by viewing
the Rulemaking Activity section of its
website. There, visitors can find links to the

proposals on DATA-Waiver registration
elimination, health care workplace violence
prevention, marijuana pharmacy, pharmacy
benefits managers, and more. The Legislative
Proposals web page contains items developed
by the Board's Regulation Revision

South Dakota Expects Donated Drug
Redispensing Rules to Be Finalized
The South Dakota Interim Rules Review
Committee met on November 1, 2022,
and, after South Dakota Board of Pharmacy
testimony and legislator questions, certified
that Administrative Rules of South Dakota
20:51:35 could move forward to final form.
The rules elaborate on the criteria that
prescription drugs need to meet in order for
a pharmacy to accept them as a donation,
the environmental conditions that need to
be maintained for these prescription drugs,
and the details that should be documented
about these medications. The rules became
effective on November 27, 2022, and can
be found on the South Dakota Legislative
Research Council website. The program
forms, databases, and details are being
finalized. Read more in the South Dakota
January 2023 Newsletter.
Wyoming Files Notice of Intent
to Amend Wyoming Pharmacy
Act Rules and Regulations
The Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy
proposes to amend Chapters 2, 20, and 21
of the Wyoming Pharmacy Act Rules and
Regulations in order to modernize, reorganize,
and simplify the chapter by removing
obsolete and/or commonly understood terms
and definitions; simplify and separate the
requirements of a pharmacist-in-charge from
a pharmacy license holder; and simplify the
requirements for non-controlled substance
prescriptions, including refill authorizations,
labeling requirements, and prescription
transfers. Rules for shared pharmacy services
are being modernized and streamlined.
The Board also proposes to repeal the
current content of Chapter 20 because its
proposed revisions to the chapter will move
its collaborative practice requirements into
Chapter 2. The Board also proposes to create
a new chapter, Chapter 21: Fees, to make it
easier to find the fees that the Board charges.
Additional details about the other rules that
the Board filed in the Notice of Intent can be
found in the Board's January 2023 Newsletter.
