NABP Participates in Grant Project to Enhance Racial and
Ethnic Inclusion in Health Care
Since fall 2021, NABP has been working
with seven other organizations on a grant
project that is intended to increase the
number of individuals in racial and ethnic
minority groups working in health care
professions and to improve health outcomes
for racial and ethnic minority populations in
the United States. The organizations include
the All Nations Worship Assembly, American
Association of Colleges of Pharmacy,
Braylock for His Kingdom Consulting/
Release Heaven on Earth Corp, Changing
Perspectives, Illinois Alcoholism and Drug
Dependence Association, RHOE CORP,
and University of Findlay.
Supported by the US Department of
Health and Human Services (HHS),*
Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health
(OASH), and Office of Minority Health
(OMH), the three-year project titled

" Eliminating Generational Racial Health
Disparities " examines how policies affect
racial and ethnic minority populations,
from early childhood education all the way
through their experiences as health care
professionals and leaders, to identify where
improvements can be made.
The goals for NABP's portion of the
project include:
* raising awareness of racial and ethnic bias
in health care among policymakers and
practitioners, and
* achieving balance on the state boards of
pharmacy to better represent the racial
and ethnic diversity of the populations
they serve.
NABP's role among the grant participants
is to assist in the development and
implementation of racially and ethnically
equitable policies and leadership on state
boards of pharmacy and to work with
stakeholders to implement similar policies
among other regulatory bodies. As an expert
in public health policy, the Association can
be a powerful influencer and supportive ally
in bringing the issue of racial and ethnic
disparities in health care to the attention of
policymakers and practitioners. In addition,
NABP is uniquely positioned to take action
to bring about change due to its relationships
with the member boards and its strong ties
with public and private stakeholders.
2022 Grant Activities
As part of the grant project, NABP is
researching the demographic makeup of its
member boards of pharmacy. To do so, the
Association sent out a survey to the member
boards. The survey sought to address the
concern that the state boards of pharmacy
