STUDENTS AS CUSTOMERS Top-of-list regarding student well-being was the notion that the campus dining program consider students' mental health and well-being, followed by learning about other cultures through the food offered on campus. They wrote that they agree that food is fuel for academic performance, that they value building a community with peers through the campus dining program, and that campus dining programs should teach healthful and balanced eating. They were more neutral to the notions that campus dining programs should encourage new students to network and engage with more senior students, though they may not see the value in these orchestrated collision points overtly. Users under this plan would not be able to use the meal plan at retail locations such as convenience stores and quick service restaurants. The next best option provided was a set number of meals coupled with a dining dollars plan. This plan allows students to dine at the AYCTE campus foodservice locations for a certain number of meals and dining dollars can be spent at retail locations. The two least preferred options were a set number of meals (where students are able to dine at the AYCTE campus foodservice for a certain number of meals but not able to use the meal plan at retail locations) and a dining dollars-only plan (where students have access to retail locations only). 37
