president Mickael Candelaria noted, " The vegetarian and vegan options, not just at Fresh Bar, but also at Panini, have
really enhanced the variety of options for students and community members. "
Given the need for alternate modes of providing food to the campus, Dining Services implemented mobile ordering
over summer 2020 and successfully piloted the system at select locations during the fall quarter. In winter 2021, they
expanded their offerings, and also added the campus Panda Express to mobile ordering. These changes have been
very well received by the student population.
" CWU Dining Services has gone above and beyond
with the new mobile ordering option...to enhance
the dining experience at CWU, " commented
Candelaria.
To engage virtually with students, Chef Ritchie
partnered with a branch campus to live stream
a cooking demonstration for Hispanic Heritage
Month. Ritchie planned and executed the event
with a Dining Services student employee from
Chile, Daniela Padilla, and together they cooked a
dish from her childhood, which was broadcast via
Zoom. " Westside Student Life was proud to work
with Chef Ritchie and Daniela to bring together a
very successful event to our Westside students, "
said associate director of Westside Student Life
Mishel Kuch. " Many were thrilled to be able to
connect with our Ellensburg campus community
through food, peer-to-peer engagement, and
entertainment. "
Dining Services has also remained active
in their communication with students,
engaging them through social media with
giveaways and contests. They plan regular
pop-up dinners like Pho Night, $2 Slice
Pizza, Steak Night, and Wing Night to keep
students active on campus. These events
have been important for students to feel
more connected to others and the campus
as a whole.

Through these activities, Dining Services
is able to show their commitment to the
campus community as a key partner.
" The efforts of our team are driven by our
vision to promote our community through
culinary and educational experiences, "
dining services director Dean Masuccio
explained. New developments are already
being planned for fall 2021, to further
support the student experience on
campus.
