NARSA NEWS
I wanted to take a moment to highlight the incredible
impact that Mark and Sandy Taylor have had on our
organization, NARSA. As friends and colleagues since
2009, Mark and I have served together on the board
of directors for a remarkable 10+ years. During Mark
and Sandy's tenure as directors of NARSA, they helped
implement the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS)
in the organization, that brought in a set of simple
concepts and tools that transformed our organization.
NARSA/IDEA survived and thrived
during COVID under the watch of
Mark and Sandy. That was quite an
accomplishment for an organization.
Under their leadership NARSA/IDEA took
advantage of technology to continue
education and support. The Solder &
Soot Podcast and Lunch & Learn kept
communication open between members.
Sharing information between members is
the biggest value of NARSA membership
and these programs kept NARSA relevant.
As soon as travel opened back up,
Mark and Sandy were instrumental in
organizing two amazing international
trips within 6 months of each other.
Scotland/England and Jordan/Dubai
both involved meeting a variety of
suppliers. The trips were of value to the
participants. We met our suppliers and
networked with other NARSA members.
The commitment to details was evident
in how organized the trips were even with
the complicated schedules.
Part of being a good leader for any
organization is having a competent
team. Mark and Sandy brought on Mary
Margaret Miller and Linda Skoglund to help
with the organization of NARSA/IDEA.
This team added value to the membership.
This was putting into practice the EOS or
Entrepreneurial Operating System that
Mark has presented to NARSA members
in the past.

Back when NARSA was 'BIG' Mark, Sandy, Jeanne, and
I were at the same conferences together but had never
met. The first time we connected was in 2009 at the
NARSA Spring conference held in Franklin, WI at Rocore.
Two weeks later there was another Spring Conference
held here at Radiator Service Company in Houma, LA
and we became friends from then on. We've taken trips
together to Puerto Rico (before they lived there), Italy,
Canada and they vacationed here in Louisiana where
we bowfished, attended the Angola Prison Rodeo and
visited. We hung out together at most NARSA events
since 2009. We could sit down for hours and entertain
others by telling stories of our experiences on trips
together. They affectionately refer to me as " Clark
Griswold " if that gives you an idea of what happens when
a couple from the north east travels in foreign places with
a couple from the deep south! Jeanne and I are looking
forward to continuing our friendships with Mark and
Sandy. We will be " friends till the end!

NARSA President (2016-2018)
Mark and Sandy's time with NARSA
has been amazing. They've brought their
'in the trenches' experience of running
a successful shop to NARSA as well as
providing organization, leadership and
vision. The two of them together are the
perfect one-two punch.
I've had the privilege of traveling with
Mark Taylor and Bobby Duran. Bobby
and I could always rest easy knowing that
ALL of the details of any given trip would
be taken care of. 1st class hotels booked,
reservations at great restaurants, tours
or events planned. The only detail that
was left out was who would pay for the
dinner? The 'numbers game' was always
there to provide plenty of laughs to those
that won the game and plenty of sorrow
to the loser... which, by the way, was
usually someone with the initials BD!
