NARSA NEWS
I met Mark and Sandy in Puerto Rico
in 2019 while my husband was deployed
overseas. After learning about my journalism
background, they hired me to join the NARSA
team as the Communications Director. Mark
and Sandy are very special to me. Thanks to the
Taylors, I have been able to continue my career
managing NARSA's web presence and social
media as well as planning meetings and events.
My favorite memories include producing the
2020 Virtual Conference with Mary Margaret
Miller, doing the 'Solder & Soot' podcast for
4 seasons, and then in 2023, when I dragged
Mark and Sandy to karaoke in Las Vegas. It's
definitely the end of an era, but I wish them a
very happy retirement!
Linda Skoglund, NARSA/IDEA
I'm not sure we will ever be able to fully
measure the impact Mark and Sandy have
made on our association. Mark served for
years on NARSA boards and committees,
and when he threw his hat in the ring to be
Executive Director, it changed the complexion
and focus and drive of the board members.
Having someone who had been a shop owner
in that role led us to look at everything a
little differently. Mark and Sandy helped us
navigate COVID, reassess and implement
EOS to the board, establish and solidify IDEA,
balance our budget, get the NIT to grow and
become a real positive for our organization,
negotiate a new stronger contract with
AAPEX, upgrade and improve the website,
establish the podcast. The list goes on and on.
I had the unique opportunity to be President
when Mark and Sandy transitioned into their
roles. I got to work so closely with them
as President, Chairman, and Chairman's
Chairman. Countless phone calls and emails
trying to get things right for the association.
They were always available to talk something
through and brainstorm. The international
trips to The Netherlands, Mexico, the UK,
Jordan and Dubai are probably the highlights
of my times with Mark and Sandy.
Aaron Morrow, Johnson Manufacturing
NARSA President (2018-2020)
I had seen Mark at a couple of NARSA events when I was on the National Board,
but I really got to know Mark when we hosted a Regional Ed-Tech meeting at his
shop in Glen Burnie, MD. while serving as National President. I was immediately
blown away with his facility and his staff, and this really got my wheels turning
about my own business. But I was even more impressed with the hospitality shown
to me by Mark and of course Sandy as well. Mark has such a relatable story of how
he worked for his dad, then became owner of the business, literally during break
time one day while at work. His sincerity shows when he talks about stepping out
on a leap of faith to grow his Heavy-Duty radiator business into one of the most
respected in the U.S.
Mark and Sandy never met a stranger. They opened up their home to Bryan and
me, took us to the baseball game, and treated us like family. And it wasn't just
because it was 'us'; I really believe Mark and Sandy treat everyone this way. Their
love for this industry is only trumped by their love for family and for life. Mark
accepted another role, another leap of faith perhaps, when he accepted the role of
Executive Director of NARSA. He came along at a time when we needed a common
sense leader, and we needed someone who truly understood the radiator industry
- where we came from, and even more importantly - where we are headed.
Mark and Sandy, you will both be incredibly missed by NARSA members. But
something tells me there is another chapter, another leap in your future, which will
bring only goodness to anyone who crosses your paths. Farewell, my friends.
