Regulatory Panel Discussion
Student Industry Connection

the small group portion of the Student Industry Connection
event.
The regulatory panel included discussions on the recent
European Union’s Commission Directive aimed at improving the identification and traceability of explosives articles.
Best practices in maintaining explosives inventory were
discussed.
More than 40 students and industry professionals attended the student industry connection held on Sunday.
This year featured Leigh Freeman from Downing Teal recruiting consultants. Mr. Freeman discussed career paths
and required competencies to get from entry level to executive level. Following Leigh’s presentation, industry professionals discussed their own career experiences, choices,
and paths. After discussing their careers, Dean Wiegand,
Martin Marietta; Greg LeClaire, Maxam; Kevin Hachmeister,
Golder Associates; Dale Preece, Orica; and Pierre Labelle,
Dyno Nobel, sat down with students in small groups and
answered questions.
