and raising funds from an increasingly
diverse group of supporters.
Our finances are stable and strong.
Treasurer Doug Runte has provided excellent
oversight and counsel in this important area
and he has been an important link between
the foundation board and the ISTAT Big
Board. Our fundraising has also seen significant growth. Thanks to some creative
ideas from Tom Heimsoth and the support
of the Big Board, we more than doubled
our fundraising in 2014 and came close to
the magic $1mm mark. As a result, we have
created a solid base for growth, especially
in the area of scholarships. And I know
Rod Sheridan will do well carrying the fundraising torch in 2015.
The foundation doesn't exist without
the support of the ISTAT Big Board. I want
to thank ISTAT President Jep Thornton for
his support for the foundation. Jep understands and really appreciates all the good
work that is done at the Foundation. I have
really enjoyed working with him these last
two years - he gets stuff done and he has
a lot of fun doing it!
We are also grateful for the dedicated support we get from SmithBucklin. Executive
Director Ron Pietrzak brings a wealth of
experience to an important role - he has
been a key resource for me. And newcomer
Megan King has provided excellent support,
especially to the foundation committees.
The foundation's success relies on a
group of dedicated volunteers. This year,
we had a very strong nominations slate -
12 outstanding candidates for six positions.
I would like to congratulate existing trustees Mary Ellen Jones, Mike Platt and Rod
Sheridan on their new terms. And I welcome
new trustees Bob Agnew, Robert Gates and
Betsy Snyder. Many thanks to the following
trustees for their contributions and service:
Murrae Ross-Eskell, Mark Dunnachie and

former foundation Chair Warren Willits.
Lastly, my successor will be announced very
soon but let's just say that the Foundation
will be in excellent hands over the next
two year term.
The ISTAT Foundation represents an
important dimension of the ISTAT community. We are professionals focused on
growing our business activities but we also
see value in having our industry give back
to our communities. It has been a privilege
to serve the ISTAT community in this role.
