Jetrader is a quarterly publication of the International Society of
Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT). ISTAT was founded in 1983
to act as a forum and to promote improved communications
among those involved in aviation and supporting industries, who

Dear Members,
The last couple of months have been a busy time with ISTAT
Americas, the 32nd Annual Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona,
in March and ISTAT Asia, the fifth such Asian conference, in
Singapore in May.
ISTAT Americas was a resounding success based on the feedMarc S. Allinson, back we received from the membership. The largest conference to
ISTAT President
date with over 1,700 attendees, the JW Marriott provided great
Southwestern ambience and plenty of space for networking. Our
reception for new and younger members was well-attended and will be repeated
at future ISTAT events. It was also a pleasure to honor our colleague Maury J.
Gallagher Jr., chairman and CEO of Allegiant Travel Company, with the ISTAT Award.
ISTAT Asia was another resounding success with record-breaking attendance-
proof that Asia continues to be a hotbed of action for aviation business.
We now have an incredibly busy schedule of events available for the membership over the remainder of 2015. First, there are two great member benefits
available during the Paris Air Show. On 15 June, we will hold our ISTAT Reception
at the Palais Brongniart, and from 15-21 June, members are invited to use the
ISTAT Chalet at Le Bourget. The Chalet has proven to be a very useful tool for
ISTAT members, with more than 1,100 visits in 2014 at the Farnborough event.
Again this year, your ISTAT Chalet Chairman and ISTAT Treasurer, Doug Runte, has
worked hard to provide the coolest air conditioning and the best ice cream bars!
In addition, on Sunday, 21 June, ISTAT will host 35 children from the Robert
Debré Children's Hospice Care Center at the Chalet.
ISTAT Europe returns this year to the Hilton Prague in the Czech Republic
4-6 October. The planning committee has an outstanding schedule of events
planned for the conference, which now annually tops 1,000 attendees. ISTAT
Europe has also seen a growing number of spouses attending our receptions and
outstanding Gala Dinner.
ISTAT also returns this year with a networking reception at the Dubai Airshow
on 9 November. Wherever there is a major market for aviation business, ISTAT will
be there, so please join us as we return to Dubai for the first time since 2009.
The board of directors has had many requests for an event covering Latin America,
and we are responding to this need with a fleet planning seminar and networking
event to be held in Panama City 12-13 November. If you are active in aviation in
Latin America, you won't want to miss this event. Watch for further details.
Finally, on 2 December, we will hold six ISTAT Holiday Receptions around the
world-in Tokyo, Singapore, London, Dublin, New York and, new this year, Miami.
I trust you share with me the recognition that ISTAT is more than a conference
organizer-we are an industry member organization, and your board seeks to
provide as many valuable events as possible to enhance your business. On behalf
of all the hardworking ISTAT board members and our executive director, I hope
you'll join us at as many of these events as is possible for you.
In the meantime, please enjoy this issue of Jetrader. You will find many articles
on industry topics, including an update on the Asia-Pacific market, a story on
customer service and the passenger experience, Q&A with Raymond Sisson, CEO
of AWAS, and recaps on ISTAT Americas and ISTAT Asia. We also have a very
interesting article on aviation history, focusing on the Bell X-1 aircraft.
