Jetrader is a quarterly publication of the International Society of
Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT). ISTAT was founded in 1983
to act as a forum and to promote improved communications
among those involved in aviation and supporting industries,
who operate, manufacture, maintain, sell, purchase, finance,
lease, appraise, insure or otherwise engage in activities related
to transport category aircraft.

Dear ISTAT Members,
I hope that this issue of Jetrader arrives to you at the end of a good summer.
While many of us are taking our holidays, a good number of members were able
to attend the ISTAT events at the Farnborough International Airshow in London
during the week of 14 July. The ISTAT Reception at the Grosvenor House, A JW
Marriot Hotel, on the Monday of the airshow was a great event, and it was very
exciting to see so many members attend.
Out at the airshow grounds, we were happy to offer the facilities of the third
annual ISTAT Chalet. We are happy to report that a record number of members
were able to take advantage of this valuable ISTAT benefit. The chalet committee,
led by chairman Doug Runte, has been fine-tuning the features of the chalet each
year. This year we were able to add the ISTAT golf cart to provide transportation
for members between the main gate and the chalet, which I personally enjoyed
driving from time to time! I spoke to a number of members who said that the
chalet was a very valuable member benefit and a useful venue to conduct business. In fact, ISTAT board member David Sutton of Federal Express closed the
sale of one of their last Boeing B727F aircraft to a nonprofit aviation school in
the U.K. at the chalet on Monday.
ISTAT was privileged to open the chalet to a local charity, Shooting Star
CHASE, which provides hospice care for terminally ill children. The day was an
unbelievably touching day with visits from the British Air Force Red Arrows team
and other special guests, as you will see from the photos in this issue of Jetrader.
A number of ISTAT board members and ISTAT staff were able to attend. This also
provided us with a possible recipient of grant funding from the ISTAT Foundation.
Now that the success of the airshow is past us, we are looking forward to
ISTAT Europe in Istanbul, Turkey, on 21-23 September. Registration is running
well ahead of last year, so we are looking forward to a good crowd in Istanbul.
The city and venue promise to be interesting and stimulating; a great experience
awaits all who will attend.

your batteries!
