A total of 139 eager applicants applied
for summer positions offered by 15 companies via the ISTAT internship web portal.
Seven interns were placed and successfully completed their internships. While
this is a great success for these students,
I am disappointed that we could not do
more for the other applicants who were
not placed through our program. As many
of you know, Boeing recently appointed
Dennis A. Muilenburg as CEO. What you
may not know is Muilenburg started as a
summer intern at Boeing 30 years ago. He
exemplifies how important internships can
be to students and companies and reminds
us that you could be hiring the next CEO
of your organization! I want to take this
