Jetrader is a quarterly publication of the International Society of
Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT). ISTAT was founded in 1983
to act as a forum and to promote improved communications
among those involved in aviation and supporting industries, who

appraise, insure or otherwise engage in activities related to

Dear Members,
As we wrap up the summer months, I hope everyone enjoyed
the beautiful weather and was able to take a break with
your families.
We recently wrapped up two great events around the Paris
Air Show in Le Bourget. Our traditional air show reception at
the Palais Brongniart attracted nearly 1,200 attendees. We

also had record attendance at the ISTAT Chalet during the
Paris Air Show, with over 1,500 visitors. The Chalet is proving
to be an asset that the membership uses and really enjoys. Also of significant
importance, on the closing Sunday we hosted 18 children and their families from
the Robert Debre' Children's Hospital. ISTAT Executive Director Ron Pietrzak did
an amazing job arranging goodie bags with items donated from a number of
members, bringing in several commercial and service pilots for the kids to talk
to and pose with for photos, and providing the best "junk" food possible so these
children could just be regular kids for a day. I readily admit to being teary-eyed
when one 3-year-old girl told me it was the best day of her life. Thanks, Ron,
for a job well done!
Speaking of Ron, I need to inform you that after 37 years in association
management, including 10 years with ISTAT, Ron has announced his intention
to retire at the end of 2015. Ron has been an incredible asset to ISTAT and has
overseen our tremendous growth over the last 10 years. I hope you'll turn out
to wish Ron well at his last conference, ISTAT Europe, and I will keep you posted
on his successor, as we have already begun a formal search.
The year may be more than half over, but with the addition of two new events,
we have several more opportunities for you to connect in 2015. First up is ISTAT
Europe, which returns to Prague October 4-6. The conference planning committee
has an outstanding schedule of events in place, which includes a networking
event at the beautiful Zofin Palace.
After ISTAT Europe, we are heading east and west in the same week with a
networking reception at the Dubai Airshow, November 9, and the ISTAT Latin
America Forum November 12-13 in Panama City. This inaugural event in Latin
America will focus on fleet planning and offers two networking receptions to
kick off and close the two-day event.
Finally, wrapping up the year as we always like to do, ISTAT will offer six holiday
receptions around the globe in Dublin, London, Miami, New York, Singapore and
Tokyo - all on December 2.
You can find schedules and additional details on all of our fall events on the
ISTAT website.
In the meantime, please enjoy this issue of Jetrader. You will find many articles
on industry topics, including a feature story on "The Second Life of Aircraft,"
an update on the European market, and a recap on events at the Paris Air Show.
