The ISTAT Foundation was proud to be one
of the key sponsors of a unique aviation
learning experience for several thousand
aviation enthusiasts during the recent
National Championship Air Races. The
experience was created and hosted by
Pathways to Aviation and the National
Aviation Heritage Invitational (NAHI).
Pathways to Aviation and NAHI combined
their talents, aviation contacts and volunteer forces to create a five-day Aviation
Learning Center in the heart of the Reno

Air Races at Stead Field just outside of
Reno, Nevada.
NAHI is one of the country's premiere
traveling aviation museums and features
some of the finest restored vintage aircraft
in North America. The 2014 NAHI display
encompassed over 105,000 square feet of
ramp space, which was filled with 28 beautifully restored vintage aircraft. This great
collection of aircraft, which are 45 years
or older and restored to pristine condition,
provided the forum and attraction for the

Tim Weston, owner of the winning Antique aircraft (the Orville & Wilbur Wright Trophy sponsored
by the ISTAT Foundation); and Ken Perich, Honeywell Aerospace (ISTAT member).

aviation experience and a special youth
program. The Pathways to Aviation's charter
is to encourage students to obtain a better understanding of the aviation industry
and to pursue careers within the aviation
industry. Since its inception, Pathways to
Aviation has collaborated with Reno-area
school districts to integrate aviationrelated skills such as piloting, meteorology, engineering and communications into
current literacy, math, science and history
programs. They are active in supporting
Tim Weston, winner of the 2014 Orville &
Wilbur Wright Trophy (National Aviation
Heritage Invitational).
