Internship Program
Sees Bright Future

Behind the airshows, aircraft announcements, orders and industry buzz this
summer, the ISTAT Foundation focused
on breeding the next generation of aviation leaders. As part of the foundation's
continuing commitment to education and
development, the ISTAT Internship Program
was successfully relaunched-this time
aided by technology in the form of a custom-designed web portal. Given the new
technology and cutting-edge portal, the
committee wanted to restart the program
on a limited basis to ensure everything
worked smoothly. Buoyed by the volume
of interest and participation from students
and employers alike, the program got off to
a flying start, and we are excited to expand
and enlarge the offering for summer 2015.
Internships have become commonplace
in a student's college education, and the
foundation recognized the need to create
further internship opportunities in aviation to:
1. Assist in the development and education
of aviation-focused college students
desiring to become productive members in the aviation finance and related
industries; and
2. Develop qualified employment candidates for ISTAT member companies
who can be productive directly out
of college.
The program was designed specifically
to offer skilled and passionate aviationminded individuals a sneak peek at what
it is like to work for some of the biggest

names in the industry. Feedback received
suggests the program was a roaring success
for all involved.
Four organizations offered five different positions in which students from three
different nationalities were selected. The
program was primarily U.S.-based; however, one took place outside of the U.S.
with GECAS in Hong Kong. The available
roles ranged from financial to marketing
and technical positions. The program provides the opportunity for candidates to
achieve experience in various sectors by
teaming with member organizations to
offer internships.
The internship initiative provides a
stipend offered by the ISTAT Foundation
to assist the successful candidates with
travel and living expenses. The stipend
assists individuals to accept an opportunity they might otherwise not accept
due to geographic location. Interns were
thankful for the assistance, a sentiment
