The Cocktail Reception and President’s Gala Dinner,
sponsored by CFM, Embraer, GECAS and United Airlines, highlighted
ISTAT Foundation successes, the ISTAT Award Winner and new ISTAT
leadership.

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy, chairman and chief executive ofﬁcer, past
ISTAT Award winner, Air Lease Corporation, shares stories during
the presentation of the 2013 ISTAT Award to Gordon Bethune,
former chief executive ofﬁcer of Continental Airlines.

Outgoing ISTAT President Joe Ozimek hands over the reins to Jep
Thornton, who will lead ISTAT as president from 2013 to 2015.

Outgoing ISTAT Foundation Chairman Warren Willits accepts the
$335,000 check to the ISTAT Foundation from ISTAT. ISTAT’s generous
gift will be used toward grants for nonproﬁt institutions and
organizations that utilize the funding for programs that advance
commercial aviation and education programs.

Gordon Bethune, former chief executive ofﬁcer of
Continental Airlines, accepts the 2013 ISTAT Award
presented to him by outgoing ISTAT President Joe
Ozimek. The ISTAT Award is the most distinguished
honor in the aviation industry and was presented
to Bethune for his excellence in the turnaround of
Continental Airlines in the mid-1990s, among many other
achievements in the aviation industry.
