which allows the plane maker to look at
a relatively straightforward stretch of the
787-9, expected to fly in the second half
of this year.
“We’re looking to increase capacity by
40 to 50 passengers by basically using an
extremely common airplane, with all the same
systems, same engine and, in many cases, the
identical structure. The 787-10X will be able
to provide something on the order of 25 to
30 percent lower fuel burn per seat than the
airplanes it’s replacing,” VerWey said.
