RETAIL COUNCIL OF CANADA (RCC) NAMES 2012 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

RCC recently named Krystle Manintveld the association’s 2012 Employee of the Year for her dedication and
hard work toward serving the association’s members
and retail industry as a whole.
Manintveld, RCC’s web editor, becomes the second
recipient of the honour which is part of an association-wide staff recognition program that awards RCC
employees for significant contributions to the overall
growth and health of the association as well as its
members and the industry.
Throughout the year 12 Employee of the Month
awards are handed out to employees who demonstrate excellence in the following criteria: team work;
customer service; professionalism; leadership; creativity; spirit; and attitude.
Within her role at the association, Manintveld is

responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of the association website and microsites as
well as the monitoring and dissecting of analytics that
are generated by the website. She’s been instrumental
in the development of RCC’s new website and other
online properties recently launched by the association.
“Krystle’s commitment to excellence in everything
that she does is second to none,” says Diane Brisebois,
RCC’s president and CEO. “Her knowledge of the web
and her tech-savvy ability allow her to help in taking
the association forward while serving our members in
a very unique way. The level of energy and positivity
that she brings in to the office every day and her aptitude to handle the complex demands that the online
world presents is very much appreciated.”

RESEARCH
IBM RESEARCH SUGGESTS PROLIFERATION OF ONLINE SHOPPING

In a recent consumer research
report conducted by IBM entitled
‘From Transactions to Relationships: Connecting with a Transitioning Shopper’, it’s suggested
that more than one third of global
consumers will consider their
options other than the physical
store when deciding on their next
purchase.
This speaks to the urgency for
retailers across the country to
strengthen their omni-channel approach to enhance the shopping
experience that they offer their
customers in order to maintain
their loyalty to the brand and its
products and services.
The IBM Institute for Business surveyed 26,000 shoppers
in 14 different countries, across
a range of retail categories to
understand in greater detail how
consumers interact with multiple retail channels to shop and
purchase. Some of the survey’s
findings are as follows.
