Exhibition update Other fairs not to be missed Intertextile Shanghai hosts lingerie section Apparel, fabrics and accessories are on show at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics from October 20th to 23rd at Shanghai’s New International Exhibition Centre. With more than 2,400 suppliers from 30 countries due to exhibit at Intertextile, attendance at the show is set to be the biggest yet and has blossomed to 10 halls with over 115,000 m2 of trade space since its inception. A feature of particular interest this year is the introduction of a special Lingerie & Swimwear Fabrics zone which will include the presence of brands including Lurex International, Carino Tessuto, Winner Lace and Invista Fibers. Other important suppliers such as Japan Exlan and Hyosung International will be available in the main exhibition area. As in previous editions, buyers will have the possibility of attending trend forums for fabrics and accessories and three days of seminars. A further highlight of this major trade fair will be four unique pavilions created by international chemical fiber makers to showcase the applications for their specialty products; the Austrian manufacturer Lenzing has invited 37 weaving mills to showcase their innovative products; Invista from the US will feature 35 mills that use its Coolmax, Lycra and Thermolite brands and With China increasingly becoming the center of production for apparel brands all over the world, it comes as no surprise that trade fairs in the area are increasing in number and visitorship, as well as becoming more articulated. Intima Asia presents its readers three appointments for textiles and fabrics this Autumn. through demonstrations will help visitors to better understand these products and to source fabrics containing them more easily; Dow Fibers Solutions and Hyosung International will have similar displays for their products, while Dow will also present a trend forecast for F/W 2009/10. To assist visitors looking at the vast array of products for the first time, Chinese domestic halls will be organized by end use (such as denim or shirting) to help buyers find what they need. The international area will include exhibitors from Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Portugal, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey amongst others. Yarn Expo Autumn A specialized trade event for the yarn and fiber industry, Yarn Expo provides a forum for yarn and fiber producers to meet textile manufacturers directly. This year, Yarn Expo Autumn is set for 21st to 23 rd October 2008 at the Shanghai International Convention Centre and will showcase yarn and fiber products from China and around the world in a specialized event. Last year Yarn Expo Autumn attracted 3,700 visitors from 59 countries and regions and the fair expects to do just as well if not better this year, also thanks to the event being held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai. The expo features natural fibers and yarns including cotton, wool, silk and linen/ramie; regenerated and synthetic man-made fibers and yarns; specialty products; elastic, fancy and blended yarns and computer-related services.
