Event Femmy Gala 2009 Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008, the Femmy Awards continue to be a key moment bringing together major industry players and honoring talent. T he 2009 Femmy Gala Awards night hosted by the Underfashion Club took place on 3rd February at the exclusive Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. An important industry event, the Femmy Awards honor those individuals or companies that have most significantly contributed to the intimate apparel industry and this year recipients included: Nordstrom Inc, accepted by Pete Nordstrom, President of Merchandising; Jockey International Inc, accepted by Edward C. Emma, President and Chief Operating Officer and MAS Holdings, accepted by Mahesh Amalean, Chairman. Further, Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx Inc received the Innovation Award while the Lifetime Achievement A ward was presented to Ann Deal, CEO of Fashion Forms Inc. A highlight of the evening was the Student Design contest carried out in collaboration with the FIT of which The Best of Intima brings you a beautiful photoshoot presenting the three winners in this issue. 130
