The Gala evening was memorable and honored the event’s 50th Anniversary. imed at honoring eminent personalities of the lingerie industry at an international level, the exciting award evening, presided by Underfashion Club President Barry Ross, brought together over 700 guest whose contribution will go to sponsoring a number of scholarships in the lingerie field. For the 2008 edition awards were conferred to: Elle Macpherson Intimates/Bendon USA inc, represented by Elle Macpherson in person; Dillard’s Inc, represented by William Dillard III, Vice President and General Merchandise Manager for Cosmetics, Accessories and Intimate Apparel; Warnaco Inc. represented by Helen McCluskey, Group President, Intimate Apparel & Swimwear; Cotton Incorporated, represented by J. Berrye Worsham, General President. The ceremony was rounded off with the highly awaited Innovation Award, which honors the individual or company that has most significantly contributed to the intimate apparel industry and its growth, which was awarded to Stretchline Holdings in the person of President Timothy Speldawinde. Another exciting moment during the Gala evening was the Student Design Contest, carried out in collaboration with the Fashion Institute of Technology, with the winners being determined by the attendees. Special thanks go to Calvin Klein Underwear for sponsoring the 2008 edition of the competition while The Best of Intima magazine again sponsored the initiative by featuring the winners in a photo shoot which you can admire in the following pages.
