Let's play around with color Tempted by transparency Blue and yellow - a light half-triad - accompagned by two neutral colors, white and black, this is a combo which is perfect in any season, for any kind of photos. proposed by Marianne Sterchi If Marianne chose this combo it was because she found it very seasonal without it seeming so: - The blue because the late autumn generally is still beautiful, the sky is clear. - The orangey-yellow because precisely it is the late autumn and the leaves are beginning to take on warm colors. - The black because September is back to school, white boards, ink... - The white because it marks a new start for a new school year... a new adventure! Alexis vs Caspar David Friedrich «  Mes lunettes (My glasses)  » by Marianne Sterchi Transparency and clarity The choice of the photo determined the materials which have been used: Marianne wanted transparency and clarity for this pair of glasses which actually has given her a clear view again! In order to give transparency, the ink traces are in fact Prismalo which have been diluted with water and used to scribble. She went over it several times to bring out the shades. Another way to bring out this "see through" aspect is the use of masks and stencils 10 10 HISTOIRES DE PAGES - SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2013 which allow us to see the medium where the ink or paint have not been put; hence a degree of transparency which brings a definition for her: at last she sees correctly through her new glasses. She superimposed documents, papers, stamps... it is a jumble of things, but all of them are recognizable and legible, which was not so, even a few months before. She worked in Clustering mode to show off the photo, the object of desire or rather, as we would say, a godsend. The colors suggested for this combo are late season colors, Fall colors, such as they are being discovered by this delightful toddler whose watchful eyes and inviting smile illustrate the unique way that children have of express their feelings through the impetus that characterizes them, and makes them lyrical beings even before they are aware of it. But in the life of a human being, the late season is also the onset of old age, and we discover it, through identical colorings, in one of the last paintings - 1834 - of the great German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich: the Stages of Life. He painted himself from behind, at the end of his life, saying goodbye to his family... Both reserved and lyrical, this painting of the Romantic era makes us join with these characters - the uncle and his nephews - in their contemplation of a magnificent landscape which is, in itself, a revelation of the fusion between human beings and the world, and also a gradual farewell to life.
