Histoires de Pages - Let’s talk layouts / Issue #53 - SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER 2013 - (Page 92)
A background page in 9 steps
Ink, paper, that's all!
You do not have a lot of material and you want to create a custom
background? Stop! Look no further! We will show you that with a few
pieces of paper and some ink colors it is quite possible to create a
unique background page!
by Catherine Labeeu
To best tone your background to your photo, select
your snapshot before you
start. Once you have chosen
it, decide on the dominant
color of your design and
choose inks that blend with
the chosen shades.
Also prepare some paper
bands in different patterns,
a brush, some gesso and...
off you go!
Supplies: papers (Basic Grey, BoBunny,
Fancy Pants, Prima Marketing, Rose
Moka, 7gypsies), alphabet (Basic
Grey), stickers (Basic Grey, Crate Paper, Sassafras Lass), stamps (L'Encre
& L'Image, Tim Holtz), masking tape
(Tim Holtz), mask (The Crafter's Workshop), Distress ink (Ranger), doilies

Is it a layout or a sunset?
Whether on a red copper background
in Montreal or in a blue-tinged copper
sky in Marseille - color develops in large
bright stripes, which bleed right across
into the edges of the frame. Who would
guess that on this picture of the sunset over the bay of Marseille, there lies,
at its base, the most famous castle in
the world, i.e. If Castle, the former royal
prison, famous since Alexander Dumas
chose to imprison the Count of Monte
Christo there, and which today detains
only tourists...
